The building accommodates 50 residential rooms for occupants requiring medium to high intensity care and the support facilities associated with these, consisting of kitchens, dining rooms, library administration, therapy rooms, chapel and art gallery spaces.
The project also included the custom designing of pieces of furniture including the altar, the tabernacle, chair and lectern for the chapel, and other furniture throughout the building..
The project further included the lighting design, the specification of finishes, the interior landscape design and the selection of over 200 artworks to form the core of a permanent collection/exhibition.
The brief for the project was to design spaces that provided a sense of comfort, wellbeing and homeliness which did not carry the stamp of institution, but at the same time complied with the hygiene standards and operational methodologies associated with contemporary healthcare.
